Job Function

The position will join at Analyst/Associate level within a small and experienced entrepreneurial team, who are making significant venture and growth investments in companies with cost-effective technologies for minimizing the greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint. The position will work across the origination and execution of transactions, following the investment throughout its life cycle. You will gain portfolio and asset management experience and a thorough understanding of the key technologies in the areas of methane mitigation, carbon capture and storage, energy efficiency and transportation.

Key Responsibility Areas
  • Screening and scouting for suitable investments, and actively managing a pipeline of opportunities.
  • Playing an active role in due diligence, including financial modelling and scenario analysis.
  • Leading market analysis, risk assessments, and competitive landscape overviews.
  • Managing venture days and other events to help promote deal flow.
  • Cooperation and coordination with potential partners/co-investors.
  • Portfolio reporting, valuation and process management.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • To participate in and contribute to all aspects of the deal process with key responsibility for initial quantitative and qualitative analysis of deal pipeline.
  • To perform detailed sector and thematic research and analysis to help increase the amount of quality deal flow.
  • To conduct due diligence and assist with deal execution and transaction management.
  • To prepare financial models and investment returns analyses.
  • To prepare materials for the investment committee and other internal meetings.
  • To work across various team functions e.g., legal and finance to support the investments.
  • To track portfolio performance and address any specific requests for action or approval.
  • To liaise with finance with regards to reporting of portfolio and year-end valuations.

Education and Professional Qualifications
  • Relevant degree in finance, accounting, economics, or engineering.
  • MBA and/or technical background is a plus.

Experience and Technical Competencies
  • Relevant professional experience in energy and/or finance which can include but not limited to private equity, venture capital, investment banking, corporate finance, or management consulting.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to produce and interpret financial statements.
  • Ability to produce concise and accurate investment reports.
  • Excellent organization skills, including prioritization, forward planning and administration.
  • Strong performance track record in previous roles, ideally with global organizations.
  • Strong commercial sense and ability to identify key risks.
  • Significant expertise creating and presenting analyses and presentations with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Highly adaptable, with strong interpersonal skills and able to deal with ambiguity and changing priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize deal flow and responsibilities to determine what can be actioned.

  • Flexibility and efficiency to ensure responsibilities are met in a timely and effective manner.
  • Team player: ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
  • Ability to judge and maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion on sensitive issues.
  • Fluent in English; other languages a plus.

Additional Information
  • The position is based in the US. (LA, San Francisco, Houston, Washington DC).
  • Eligibility to work in the US is mandatory.
  • We operate a hybrid working model for all our office-based roles.
  • International travel will be required from time to time.
  • Diverse locations of OGCI CI may result in out of hours meetings/calls, as required.
