Job Function

The Investments Analyst will join an experienced and entrepreneurial Investments Team that is making significant venture, growth and project investments in companies with cost-effective technologies, solutions and business models for minimising the existing greenhouse gas footprint. The candidate will:

  • Coordinate fundraising activities and support new fund marketing activities.
  • Lead market research efforts, comparative analysis and benchmarking studies to support our ever-evolving investment strategy.
  • Assist the CIO with the internal investment process, portfolio management, and reporting.
  • Promote brand-building and thought-leadership for the investment organization.
  • Expand this role to support, over time, across the full investment life cycle including origination, due diligence, transaction execution and portfolio and asset management.

The Investments Analyst will report directly to the CIO, interact with the broader Investments Team on a daily basis and will frequently interface with our Marketing, Strategy, Commercialization, and broader Leadership Team. This is a generalist role within the Investments Team that will require a willingness to “flow to the work” across strategy, process, transactional, and portfolio as necessary. Experience in this role will advance your financial, commercial, transactional, and technical understanding of key decarbonization solutions in the focus areas of methane and carbon dioxide emissions reduction, carbon capture use and storage, energy efficiency and transportation.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • To support fundraising activities, including coordination and project management, by interfacing with internal teams and external stakeholders (including advisors and investors).
  • To manage benchmarking and process improvements within the investment’s organization.
  • To perform detailed sector and thematic research and analysis.
  • To coordinate quarterly and annual portfolio reporting and FMV valuations.
  • To draft materials for the Investment Committee and Board of Directors, along with other internal and external meetings and presentations.
  • To coordinate thought-leadership publications & Investor Day content and contribute to brand evolution with our Marketing & Communications team.
  • To support due diligence, deal execution and transaction management.
  • To contribute to all aspects of the deal process with key responsibility for initial quantitative and qualitative analysis of deal pipeline.
  • To prepare financial models and quantitative analyses.
  • To work across various team functions e.g. strategy, commercialization, marketing, legal and finance to support the investments.

Education and Professional Qualifications
  • Relevant degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering or sciences.
  • Masters in a relevant field of study a plus but not required.

Experience and Technical Competencies

  • Relevant professional experience in energy and/or finance which can include but not be limited to: private equity, venture capital, project finance, investment banking, corporate finance, or management consulting.
  • Strong performance track record in previous roles, ideally with global organisations.
  • Excellent organization skills, including project management and prioritization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to produce concise and accurate written reports and memos.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong mix of commercial, financial and technical experience and aptitude.

Additional Information

  • The position is based in Los Angeles (primarily remote, moving to hybrid).
  • Eligibility to work in the US is mandatory.
  • Domestic and international travel will be required from time to time. 
  • We operate a hybrid working model for all our office-based roles.
  • International travel will be required from time to time. Diverse office locations of OGCI CI may result in meetings/calls outside of "normal" business hours with a need to flex work schedules.
